Churros with liquid chocolate dip - Crispy, juicy and dangerously good!

Delicious fried baked goods with a lovely chocolate dip!

Churros

  • 5 dl water
  • 220 gram butter
  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 pinch maldon salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla paste
  • 5 pcs egg
  • 250 gram wheat flour

Chocolate dip

  • 200 gram dark chocolate
  • 2,4 dl whipping cream
  • 1 pinch maldon salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla paste

Cinnamon and sugar.

  • 4 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
Ingredients

Churros are best known from Spain, but many countries have similar baked goods that are fried. The result is magical! Crispy, juicy and dangerously good. I have also made an instructional video which you can find further down in the recipe.

Step 1

To make the dough, find a pan (preferably with a slightly thick bottom) and set on medium + heat. Pour in the water and warm up. Now add butter, vanilla paste and salt. Mix together and pour in all the flour. Stir well all the time. At first this dough will look very strange, but after a few minutes the dough gathers and becomes fine. Now turn the heat down to low and add one egg at a time. After each egg, stir well until you get an even mass before adding the next egg. When you have added all the eggs, fry the dough for another 1-2 minutes and turn off the heat. Find a spray bag and use a large "star spout". Pour the dough into the spray bag and let it rest a bit.

Turn on the fryer or pour frying oil into a saucepan. These should be fried at about 180 degrees so use a thermometer to watch the temperature. Always remember not to have the oil too high up in the pan. It is better to use a slightly too large pot and a little less oil. Slowly spray the dough in the frying oil and use scissors to cut. You can adjust the shape and length of each churros yourself. Let fry for 5-8 minutes until golden and crispy. Take them out when done and place on a rack.

Mix together sugar and cinnamon and place on a plate. You need to roll the churros in this mixture. You get the best result if you roll them 10-20 seconds after they come out of the frying oil so they are really hot.

This chocolate dip is very easy to make. Pour the whipped cream into a saucepan and add the vanilla paste and a little salt. Boil. Break up the chocolate in a bowl (use a chocolate you think is very good). Pour the hot cream over, wait for 20 seconds and stir together until a smooth and glossy chocolate dip.

Now these are ready to be enjoyed! Place churros on a dish and serve with a bowl of liquid chocolate dip.
