Homemade Fish Sticks

As you probably understand, I'm not the biggest fan of industrial food. Homemade food is better, healthier and you know what you are eating and serving your loved ones. Fish sticks are perhaps the children's favorite and with this Corn Flakes trick you can make them very easily yourself. Contains lots of good fish and the crispy slightly sweet crust makes this very popular.

Ingredients

Portions

Fish sticks

  • 500 gram cod without bones
  • 100 gram Cornflakes
  • 1 pcs egg
  • butter for frying
  • pepper and salt
  • a little wheat flour

Rémoulade

  • 1 pcs egg yolk
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • lemon
  • salt
  • rapeseed oil
  • gherkin

Accessories

  • 400 gram sweet potatoes
  • 1 pcs squash
Ingredients

Here I teach you how in a hectic everyday life you can make fish sticks for dinner in a very short time. Fish sticks with fried sweet potatoes, squash spaghetti and homemade remoulade. Sounds like a lot, but this is very simple. See how further down in the recipe.

Step 1

Start by turning the oven to 220 degrees hot air. We start with what takes a long time to cook, so start by cutting up sweet potatoes into long sticks / boats. Place in a pan with baking paper at the bottom. Pour on a little oil and sprinkle with a little salt and pepper. The potatoes can be fried until the rest of the food is done.

Step 2

Find a plate and pour on flour, salt and pepper. Take an egg and lightly whisk together in a bowl. Find a bowl of Corn Flakes and crush into suitable small pieces. Corn Flakes then become the breading (the crispy outer layer). Now all you have to do is cut the fish into suitable pieces.

Step 3

Dip the fish first in the flour, making sure everything is covered. Shake off excess flour and place the fish piece directly in the egg mix. Lift up and roll well in the crushed Corn Flakes. Then place on a plate. This is a perfect and fun job to take the kids on. Involve the children in the cooking and it will be much more fun to eat afterwards.

Step 4

Find a frying pan and add a good lump of butter. Heat the pan on a little over medium heat. The butter should not burn, but get a nice brown color. Add the fish sticks and fry on all sides until golden and fine.

Step 5

Cut squash into thin strips or grate on a grater or with a mandolin. When you have finished frying the fish sticks, fry the squash for a few minutes in the frying pan. Squeeze over a little lemon juice and add a little salt and pepper.

Step 6

Now only the homemade remoulade remains. Start by putting an egg yolk and 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard in a bowl. Whisk slowly while pouring on rapeseed oil / sunflower oil in a thin stream. This is the same way as making mayonnaise. Check link.

Step 7

Season with lemon and salt. Finely chop the gherkin and mix in the mayonnaise together with some of the juice from the gherkin. Then the "quick" homemade remoulade is ready to serve.

Then just put this nicely on a plate and serve. This dish is very good and tastes very good for both young and old. Good luck.
