I think everyone loves Gifflar and especially the little ones. You can buy mass-produced Gifflar in the store, but it's no secret that homemade is so much better.
Step 1
Start by mixing all the dry ingredients in the baking bowl and mix together.
Step 2
Melt the butter and pour in the milk.
Step 3
Let the dough knead on low speed for 15 minutes. Cover the bowl with plastic and let the dough rise for 45 minutes.
Step 4
Place the dough on a floured board and roll out into a large rectangle. I cut off the edges so I get straight edges. Divide the rectangle into strips of about 10 cm per strip.
Step 5
Use a cheese grater and cut ice-cold butter into neat slices. Lay on one side of the "strip" of dough. Mix well with brown sugar and sprinkle with cinnamon. Try to make sure that one side of the dough has nothing on it. Fold the part with butter, cinnamon and sugar and spread a little water on the remaining part of the dough with your finger. This is so that the dough will stick together nicely. Roll up into a sausage and squeeze a little flat.
Step 6
Cut into 2-3 cm pieces and place on a baking tray with baking paper. Cover with plastic wrap and leave to rise for 45 minutes. Set the oven to 200 degrees hot air. Brush the bowls with the egg mixture and bake in the middle of the oven for about 15 minutes until the bowls have a golden and nice color.
Step 7
Now just enjoy delicious little Gifflar with cinnamon. Feel free to put some in a bag and freeze so you have some tempting ones you can easily bring out on a later occasion. Good luck.
