Meatballs in spicy white sauce - simple and child-friendly everyday food
I have made "quick" meatballs since this is an everyday dish. You still get much better meatballs when you do it yourself. The meatballs are served with a delicious spicy white sauce with onions and garlic.
Ingredients
Meatballs
- 500 gr pork mince
- 500 gr beef mince
- 1 pcs egg
- 3 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp chili powder (optional)
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
White sauce
- 1 pcs onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp wheat flour
- 7 dl milk
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- salt and pepper
For this recipe, I served rice and boiled carrots. The result was very good and the kids loved it. I delivered some food to the neighbors as well. So the dish was very well received by children from 1-12 years. If you have not tried this before, just give it a try.
Step 1
Start by making the meatballs. I find a large bowl and rather in all the ingredients. Mix well and find a baking tray with baking paper. Roll small meatballs and place straight on the tray.
Step 2
It is a good idea to have some water on your hands when making meatballs. Then there will be less mess and the job will go faster. Place all the meatballs on the tray, pour on a little neutral oil and place in a preheated oven at 225 degrees. The meatballs should cook for 15 minutes.
Step 3
White sauce
Start by finding a pan and add the butter. When the butter melts, finely chop the onion and garlic. Add to the pan and cook until the onion is completely soft.
Step 4
Then add the flour and stir. Dilute with milk and stir often so it does not burn. Add the spices and cook for a few minutes so that the floury taste disappears. Whisk in a little mustard just before serving.
Step 5
Serve with cooked rice and vegetables. Hope this dish appeals to both young and old. Good luck!
