Family pizza - One of my best food memories from childhood.

I remember that on Saturdays we often had a similar type of pizza at home. It's the first dish I really remember I was looking forward to.

Ingredients

Portions

Pizza base

  • 500 gram wheat flour
  • 3 dl lukewarm water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 pk dry yeast

Pizza filling

  • 500 gram beef mince
  • 1 gul onion
  • 3 pcs shallots
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 can tomato puree
  • 1 can good tomatoes
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • a little chili powder if you like
  • 500 gram grated cheese
Ingredients

For me, there are some criteria for it to be a real family pizza. It must be square, delicious sauce with meat, the cheese must be on top and a slightly thicker bottom than usual. I still notice that I look forward to making this dish. This is nostalgia and food joy for me! Here I come with a good recipe and some tips that will give you a better result.

Step 1

How to make pizza dough:

Mix everything dry and put in the food processor. Pour on liquid and let the dough knead with the kneading hook for 15 minutes until it becomes a smooth dough. Check that all the dough escapes from the baking dish, you may need to adjust a little with flour to get a just the right consistency. Let rest in a bowl covered with plastic wrap for 30-40 minutes.

Step 2

How to make the pizza filling:

Start by frying the minced meat on high heat, add the finely chopped onion and cook for a few more minutes.

The onion should be shiny and soft before continuing. When the onion has softened, add the tomato paste, sugar, salt and oregano. Bake for a few more minutes. This is to get rid of the slightly bitter taste that is in tomato puree. Add the canned tomatoes, paprika powder and any chili. Let cook for 15 minutes. This should be a fairly "compact sauce". If it is too runny it is not as easy to spread on the dough. Taste and set the sauce to cool. It is important that the sauce is not above 40 degrees when you put it on the pizza dough. Then you destroy the yeast in the dough and the bottom is less raised.

Step 3

Assemble the pizza:

Start by rolling out the pizza base on a slightly floured bench until it is the same size as the pan you are going to bake it in. I use baking paper in the base. Feel free to cut the edges so you get nice straight edges. Place the pizza base on the pan, and spread the sauce well over.

Step 4

The sauce should not be over the edge because then the edge will not rise properly. Distribute nicely and sprinkle well with grated cheese. I use a combination of well-stored Norwegia and Jarlsberg.

Step 5

Bake the pizza on the bottom and overheat in the oven at 220 degrees. This takes depending on the oven between 15-20 minutes. Let the pizza cool down a bit before cutting it up. Serve, and enjoy a homemade family pizza.
