An explosion of flavors!
Ingredients
- 2 dl soy sauce
- 1 dl rice vinegar
- 1 dl sesame oil
- 1 dl honey
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp chili paste
- 2 tbsp peanut butter
- 0,5 tsp black ground pepper
- 2 cloves garlic (mashed)
I think the first time I tasted Hoisin sauce was along with thin Chinese pancakes and crispy duck. This sauce is an explosion of flavors from both the sour, sweet and salty. The sauce is used in Asian cuisine for both dips, wok dishes and cold as a sauce for several dishes. You can buy ready-made Hoisin sauce in the store, but it is simple and tastes better if you make it yourself.
Step 1
Start by measuring all the ingredients and place in a saucepan
Step 2
Let the sauce cook for 5 minutes while stirring.
Step 3
Strain the sauce so that pieces of garlic and peanuts remain in the strainer. Let the sauce cool down.
Step 4
Pour into a jam jar or similar and store in the refrigerator. The sauce has a minimum keeping quality of 3 weeks in the refrigerator. This is really good and perfect for Crispy Duck, spring rolls and in wok dishes. Good luck.
