Homemade Wonton - Some of the best of Asian cuisine.

Here you get my basic recipe for homemade Wonton / Dumplings.

Ingredients

  • 350 gram pork mince
  • 200 gram raw scampi without shell
  • 2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 pcs spring onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 2 tsp soy sauce
  • 1 pcs egg
  • 1 tsp white pepper
  • 0,5 tsp salt
  • 75 pcs wontonpasta plates

Once you've tried some good Wonton, it's easy to get hooked. Here is my basic recipe for Wonton and they go well with chili sauce, fried or in wonton soup. The silky soft pasta with a tasty filling is very good! Make a large portion when you first make this and freeze the rest for some good dinners in the future.

Start by making the filling. This benefits from standing a little in the fridge for better consistency and taste. Place the pork mince in a bowl. Finely chop raw scampi without skin and place in the same bowl.

Add the other ingredients together with the scampi and the pork mixture.

Stir well for 3-4 minutes until you have a sticky and firm mass. This is important to get the right consistency when they are later steamed or boiled. Cover the bowl with plastic and put in the fridge until you are ready to make wontons.

I buy ready-made frozen wonton pasta at Asian stores. This makes the job much easier and tastes very good. Slowly thaw the package in the refrigerator and always keep them under a damp towel when you have taken them out for use.

Now it's time to fill and fold the wonton. It is important that there is not too much filling per wonton. I recommend a topped teaspoon with filling in each. Find the bowl with filling, a glass of water (this to glue the edge) and a tray to put the finished ones on.

There are many varieties for folding wonton, but here I will show you the method I like best. Start by holding the wonton paper in your hand. Place the filling in the center of the "paper". Dip your finger in a little water and lubricate the outer edge of the tip from you. Fold neatly so that the edges hit each other. Take some water on one tip (left or right) and fold the tips towards each other. Now the wonton is completely folded and ready for boiling or steaming.

Step 7

Let cook for 3-4 minutes and they are ready to serve. It is very good to serve wonton with a sauce as a dip, in a hot broth as a soup or my favorite in a spicy chili sauce. I will come up with more recipes for using wonton in the future, so this is the basic recipe for wonton. Good luck.
