Good broth is the key to a perfect Horseradish Sauce.
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp wheat flour
- 5 dl cooking broth / meat broth
- 1,5 dl whipping cream
- 1 tbsp finely grated horseradish
- 1 tbsp finely chopped chives
For me, this is the traditional sauce for salt meat with swede stew and potatoes. The sauce can of course be used for other dishes as well. The fresh horseradish gives a fresh and exciting taste. Here I will show you how to do this.
Step 1
Start by melting the butter in a saucepan.
Step 2
When the butter has melted, add the flour to the butter and stir until you get a smooth and even mass. Make sure that you do not have too high a temperature in the boiler.
Step 3
Dilute with warm broth while stirring constantly. This way you get a smooth and nice sauce without any lumps.
Step 4
Grate fresh horseradish and place in the pan together with the nutmeg and cream.
Step 5
Boil the sauce on medium heat for 10 minutes. You can adjust the thickness of the sauce with more or less cooking broth. Taste and stir in finely chopped chives just before serving. Good luck.
