This is delicious Norwegian traditional food! Delicious meat that browns quickly on high heat and then soak in a good broth until it is completely tender. Mixed with good vegetables and served with flatbread and good butter.
Ingredients
- 1 kg high ribs of beef
- 1 pcs small turnip
- 1 pcs parsley root
- 4 pcs potatoes
- 3 pcs carrots
- 10 dl bull broth
- 1 pcs onion
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp neutral oil
- 1 tsp ginger spice
- 2 pcs bay leaf
- salt and pepper
Step 1
Start by cutting the high ribs into small cubes / pieces. Season well with salt and pepper. Find a frying pan and a saucepan. Put 1 tablespoon neutral oil and 1 tablespoon butter in the frying pan and set on high heat. Quickly brown the meat on all sides so that it gets a golden brown color. This gives the broth a very good taste. Fry just a little and a little of the meat and place on a plate. When you have finished, pour 1 dl of water into the pan and bring to the boil. This means that you get all the good taste from the frying.
Step 2
Finely chop the onion and place in a saucepan with 1 tablespoon butter. Bake soft on a little over medium heat. It's only good if the onion starts to turn a little brown. Pour in the water you boiled the pan with and place the meat in the pan. Pour on the beef broth, 1 teaspoon ginger and add the bay leaves. Let simmer for 2 hours. It is important that it does not boil properly, but only simmers. This makes the meat juicier.
Step 3
Cut the turnip, parsley root, potatoes and carrot into cubes.
Step 4
Put the chopped vegetables in a large saucepan. Use the pan you want to serve the dish in afterwards.
Step 5
When the meat is done, pour over the meat, onion and broth over the vegetables and simmer for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally.
Step 6
Season with salt and pepper. Serve piping hot with flatbread and good butter. Now you can enjoy a delicious Norwegian traditional dish! If there are any leftovers, just freeze the leftovers for a good dinner at a later time.
