Salad Nicoise - A famous French salad from Nice in the Provence area
Some of the area's best ingredients combined in a delicious salad.
Ingredients
Salad Nicoise
- 250 gram fresh tuna
- 1 pcs salad
- 5 pcs potatoes
- 8 pcs tomatoes
- 0,5 pcs cucumber
- 2 pcs egg
- 1 handful good olives
- 15 pcs asparagus beans
- 2 pcs grilled peppers in oil / pimientos
- 4 pcs radishes
- 6 pcs anchovy fillets
Dressing / Vinaigrette
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- salt and pepper
This is one of the most famous salads in the world and comes from Nice in France. Of course, there are countless versions of this salad, but common to them all is that they contain tuna, eggs, anchovies and olives. A little funny that I forgot to put on olives before I took the picture of mine, but you just have to apologize. In my version I have taken even more good ingredients to make this a fantastic dish with good flavors combined in a delicious classic French vinaigrette (dressing / sauce). This dish is perfect for both dinner and lunch and is best enjoyed with a glass delicious rosé wine from Provence.
Step 1
When you are going to make this dish, it is important to prepare all the ingredients in the best possible way in advance. Then it is very easy to finish the salad just before it is to be enjoyed. I start by boiling the potatoes in salted water. They should be cooked tender. The last 2 minutes I also put in the asparagus beans. Pick out the asparagus beans, rinse and put in cold water.
Step 2
Boil the eggs until the eggs are soft boiled. This takes about 7 minutes. Put the eggs in cold water and let them cool down. When the eggs have cooled, remove the eggshell.
Step 3
Season the tuna and cook on high heat for a short time on both sides.
Step 4
Cut up and place the rest of the ingredients in the salad bowl you are going to serve the dish in.
Step 5
Make the vinaigrette / dressing. Start by putting dijon mustard, salt, pepper and vinegar in a bowl and whisk together. Add the oil in a stream while whisking together.
Step 6
Now everything is ready to serve. Cut the tuna into thin strips and place over the salad. Add a few slices of anchovies and pour over the dressing. Now you can enjoy a delicious classic French salad. Salad Nicoise. Serve with a delicious rosé wine from Provence. Good luck.
