Spicy mussels on the grill - simple and incredibly good !!

  • 1 nett mussels
  • 100 gram butter
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 0,5 tsp salt
  • 0,5 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp tomato puree
  • 1 handful finely chopped parsley
  • 2 dl apple juice / white wine
  • 1 dl whipping cream
  • 1 pcs lemon
  • Serve with good bread

Mussels are incredibly good, cheap to buy and take a short time to make. That combination is just to be grateful for. Here I make mussels on the grill in a creamy spicy sauce. Serve with good bread so you get all the good sauce and you have a great meal made in a few minutes.

When cooking outside, preparation is important. When you have everything ready, just enjoy yourself at the grill and make a delicious meal without stress. It is important when you have mussels that you put them in water, remove any shells with damage or that are not good. Put the mussels in a bowl when you are done with this. I cut up everything I need and measure the different ingredients. Put everything on a plate and bring to the grill.

This recipe can be made on all types of grills. Here it is important to have high heat and either a lid for the grill or the pan. Use a pan that can withstand being directly on the grill. Heat the grill so that it is very hot before you start.

Start by placing the pan in the middle of the heat on the grill and add butter. Then add the garlic, spices and tomato paste, and mix well. Let this simmer for a few minutes while stirring occasionally.

Then pour on apple juice / white wine and a little cream. When this boils, place the mussels in the pan, stir and close the lid of the grill. If you have a grill without a lid, you can put a lid or foil on the pan.

Now just wait a few minutes until the mussels have steamed clear and opened. The time here will vary slightly depending on how hot it is on the grill. When the mussels have opened, I stir a couple of times in the pan so all the mussels fill up with the good sauce. Pour over finely chopped parsley and a little lemon juice and pour into the bowl in which to serve the dish.

Serve piping hot with some good bread next to it. The bread is important to get all the good sauce. It is also good to serve with french fries and aioli. Hope you like to try this good dish. Good luck.
