Swede mash - A traditional accessory to many good dishes
I am very fond of swede mash.
Ingredients
- 1 pcs swede
- 1 pcs carrot
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1,5 dl whipping cream
- 1 tsp ground nutmeg
- salt and white pepper
- possibly a little cooking broth
Swede mash is a very good accompaniment to many traditional Norwegian dishes. Here I show a simple and very good recipe. You can choose how fine or coarse you want the stuffing with how much you mash it.
Step 1
Start by peeling off the peel of the swede and carrot. Cut into fairly equal cubes.
Step 2
Pour on unsalted water and cook until the pieces are completely tender. Pour into another bowl and save some of the boiling water. Add cream, butter, nutmeg, pepper and salt.
Step 3
Use a hand mixer or mash until you get the consistency you want. Season with salt and possibly a little more of the boiling water or cooking broth.
Step 4
Pour the swede mash back into its pan and keep warm until serving. Good luck.
