Homemade Sweet Chili Sauce - Incredibly simple and far better than you buy at the store!
Making this popular sauce is incredibly easy and it stays in the fridge for several weeks if you do not eat it.
Ingredients
- 12 pcs red chili with seeds
- 3 hele china garlic
- 1,5 dl water
- 1,5 dl rice vinegar
- 3 dl sugar
- 2 tbsp jam powder
Sweet chili is one of the classic sauces from Asian cuisine. Used for spring rolls, barbecue, fried foods and all other dishes where it can fit with a strong and sweet sauce. After I found this recipe and found out how easy this is to make, I will not buy this product ready in the store again. I have Norwegianized the recipe a bit so you can find all the products in your local grocery store.
Step 1
Start by coarsely chopping the chili and garlic and place in a blender along with the water. Run in the blender for about 1 minute or until it has become as coarse as you think it is best.
Step 2
Pour the mixture into a saucepan and add the rice vinegar. Bring to the boil and cook for 10 minutes. Add the jam powder and stir well. Boil for 2-3 minutes and turn off the heat.
Step 3
Pour in the sugar and stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Step 4
Let the sauce cool down in the pan. You will now see that the sauce thickens while it cools down.
Step 5
When the sauce has cooled to room temperature, pour it into a nice jar or jam jar. Now it is ready for use and it lasts several weeks in the fridge. The taste is so much better than the ones you buy at the store.
