White sauce - a starting point for many good sauces
A white sauce is one of the classic sauces you must be able to make yourself.
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp wheat flour
- 10 dl milk
- salt and pepper
Making white sauce yourself is very easy as long as you know how. Here I come up with some great tips for making a smooth and nice white sauce. It is much easier than buying a bag sauce and tastes far better.
White sauce is also the basis of many other sauces. From a white sauce you can make a classic bechamel sauce if you add cheese and nutmeg. If you add mustard and dill, you have a super sauce for fish. If you add good broth and a little cream, it will be a fricassee sauce. There are countless variations and possibilities to adapt the sauce to the food. Then you learn how to make a classic white sauce, the possibilities are many. Step 1
Start by finding a pan and turn on the heat.
Add the butter first and when the butter has melted, add equal amounts of flour.
Step 2
Whisk the flour into the butter and dilute with milk while stirring.
Step 3
Dilute with milk until you have the desired consistency.
Let cook for a minimum of 5 minutes on medium heat. Then the flour taste is completely gone.
Step 4
Season with salt and pepper.
