Birria Tacos - Magically delicious tacos with melted cheese, juicy beef and crispy tortillas

Birria Taco has become very popular all over the world!

Ingredients

  • 16 pcs tortillas (medium large)
  • 500 gram grated mozzarella
  • 1 pcs meat filling (see recipe below)
  • 4 skåler broth from meat filling
  • 8 båter lime
  • 1 pcs diced onions
  • fresh coriander

Meat filling and dipping sauce

  • 1 000 gram beef (brisket)
  • 1 can canned tomatoes
  • 1 pcs onion
  • 8 cloves garlic
  • 1 liter bull broth
  • 5 pcs Guajillo chili
  • 5 pcs Ancho chili
  • 2 pcs Chipotle chili
  • 2 pcs Arbol chili
  • 1 tbsp oregano
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar

You've probably seen these tempting tacos on social media photos already. I have now gone to great lengths to be able to recreate this delicious dish at home. In the sauce, there are some chili varieties that are not as easy to get in regular stores, but which can be ordered directly online for those who want the authentic Mexican taste. You can also replace them with regular chili and the dish will still be very good. Crispy beef tacos you dip in sauce! I still get water in my mouth when I write this recipe. Find some napkins and get ready for what I think is the world's best taco. I have made a film that shows the whole process, but everything is thoroughly explained in the steps below as well.

Step 1

The meat filling is what takes time in this dish. I start by cutting the meat into large cubes and season well with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Heat the beef broth in a saucepan and find the different types of chili. In this I use authentic Mexican dried chili for the best possible taste. You can of course replace this with chili you get in the store and the result will also be very good! Cut off the stems of the dry chillies, cut them up and remove the seeds. This way you get lots of good taste and not so much strength. Put the dry chillies in a dry pan and cook for 2-3 minutes to bring out extra flavor. Put the chili in a blender and pour over the boiling beef broth. Let stand for 15 minutes before running the blender for 3-5 minutes to a perfectly smooth chili sauce.

Step 3

Find a large pot you have a lid for. I like to use a cast iron pan for this. Turn on high heat and add a little neutral oil. Fry a little and a little of the beef quickly on all sides so you get a browned and nice crust. This gives a lot of delicious taste in the sauce afterwards. Set the meat aside and continue to cook until all the pieces of meat have a crust.

Step 4

Cut an onion into cubes and place in the pan you fried the meat. Cook until the onion is golden and fine. Add sugar, apple cider vinegar and garlic to the pan and cook for a few more minutes.

Step 5

Turn off the boiler and turn the oven to 175 degrees hot air. Put the meat back in the pan together with the onion and pour over the hot chili sauce and stir well. Put the lid on the pan and put the whole pan in the oven. Here it should be left for 3 hours until the beef has become extremely tender.

Step 6

Pick out the meat and tear it into strips with 2 forks and place this in a bowl. Strain the rest of the broth into the pan in a bowl. Add a few tablespoons of sauce over the meat to keep it extra juicy. Now both the meat filling and the sauce are ready to make Birria Tacos!

Step 7

Place the tortilla on a frying pan and top with cheese. Try not to get too much off the edge. Put the meat on half the side and a couple of teaspoons of sauce. Fold over and fry on both sides until the tortilla begins to become crispy.

Step 8

Serve with finely chopped onion, a bowl of sauce, line boats and fresh coriander! This is extremely good and remember napkins because it gets a little dirty. Good luck.
