Taquitos are tortillas with fillings that are fried or baked in the oven. Some also call it Flautas, but the recipes are about the same. Here is a recipe that is incredibly good. Crispy tortillas with delicious chicken filling! Try this next time you have a taco night.
Step 1
If you want to make the recipe easier, you can buy ready-made chicken, but I think it gets better when you cook it yourself. Put some vegetables and a little salt in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the chicken and simmer for 30 minutes. I strain off and use the boiling water as chicken broth. Let the chicken cool down.
Step 2
Mix together the ingredients and spices for the filling in a large bowl.
Step 3
When the chicken has cooled, I tear it up into thin strips and add to the cheese mixture. Mix everything well and store in the fridge until you fill the tortillas.
Step 4
Find a pan and pour in the frying oil. Heat until it has a temperature of about 170 degrees. On my oven it was 7 (on a scale of 1-9).
Step 5
Fill the tortillas with the chicken filling and roll tightly together. Use a skewer or similar to hold the end together.
Step 6
Fry the stuffed tortillas for about 2 minutes on each side until they have a golden and nice color. Let them drain on a little paper towel. (I also tried gluten free tortillas and it also went very well).
Step 7
Serve Taquito's steaming heat and with sour cream dip or guacamole. This is real cozy food and perfect as a dish for the taco night. Good luck.
