Caramelized onions with red wine vinegar - Fantastic good accessory for meat
Caramelized onions taste fantastic and are very easy to make. Perfect as an accessory for a lot.
Ingredients
- 3 pcs large onion
- 2 dl brown sugar
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 dl red wine vinegar
- salt and pepper
- herbs if desired
I almost always use onions in my food and this way makes the onion completely tender, sweet and the red wine vinegar gives it acid. The dish takes about 30 minutes to make. This time I served these onions with lamb.
Step 1
Start by cutting the peel off the outer layer of the onion and divide into slices of about 2-3 cm. Find a frying pan and pour in the sugar. Let the sugar melt on a little over medium heat.
Step 2
Put the onion in the melted sugar.
Step 3
Leave until the onion is browned and fried on one side. Add the butter and pour a little of the sugar over the onion. Now pour over red wine vinegar and cook without a lid for 5 minutes. Put the heat down so the liquid in the pan simmers, sprinkle with salt and pepper and put on a lid. Leave there to enjoy for 25 minutes. The result is wonderfully tasty onions that are completely soft.
Step 4
If you are a little careful when you turn the onion, they retain the nice shape and look even better on the plate. Good luck. Here with the tenderloin of lamb.
