Drink of the week - Watermelon Daiquiri - summery and refreshing
This drink represents some of the best I know in the summer. Watermelon gives me so many good summer memories. It was always with great pleasure when as a child I was served large watermelon slices on a hot summer day!
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp frozen watermelon cubes
- 4 cl sugar brine
- 1 båt lime
- 4 cl good rum
The mild and sweet taste, tempting red color and a refreshing feeling. It is rare to see a dish of watermelon that is not eaten, watermelon is so good! In this week's drink I have taken the tastes and memories from childhood and transferred it to a wonderful summer drink. Watermelon Daiquiri has been a bit overshadowed by the more famous Strawberry Daiquiri, but now it's time to buy watermelon and try this heavenly summer drink.
Step 1
Watermelon Daiquiri is easy to make, but to get the best results you need some preparation. I want the taste of watermelon to be as prominent as possible, so I do not use ice cubes, but freeze cubes of watermelon. Here I will show you by far the easiest way to make cubes from a whole watermelon. Put the watermelon cubes in the freezer for a minimum of 2 hours.
Step 2
Once you have put the watermelon in the freezer, it is time to make sugar brine. This is easily done by boiling equal parts of water and sugar in a saucepan. Boil for 1-2 minutes, turn off the heat and cool down. Pour into a bottle or similar and put in the fridge. The sugar brine can be left in the fridge for many days.
Step 3
Just before serving the guests, take out some good spoons of watermelon and pour into a blender together with rum, lime juice and brine. Run smoothly in the blender and pour into a nice glass. Garnish with a little grated lime peel and a small boat with watermelon. Serve and enjoy a drink with a taste of summer.
This drink is also very good without alcohol.
