Everyday Focaccia with spelt flour - Simple and very good.

This recipe is incredibly simple, but the result is great every time!

Ingredients

Half long pan
  • 500 gram spelt flour
  • 0,5 pack yeast
  • 5 dl water (room temperature)
  • 10 gram salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • good olive oil for top and bottom
  • a little flaxseed salt
Ingredients

I often make this focacia. Perfect next to a soup for dinner or for lunch and packed lunch. This can also be made with wheat flour, but I have one here at home that does not tolerate wheat and then the solution is often spelt. Spelt flour is healthier than wheat flour, but behaves a little differently when you use it.

Step 1

Start by weighing up the dry ingredients. Then I mix and pour the flour mixture with salt, sugar and yeast in a bowl.

Step 2

Pour in lukewarm water and mix together for a few minutes until you have a smooth mixture. This should not have the consistency of a dough, but be like a thick batter.

Step 3

Cover the bowl with plastic and leave to rise for 45 minutes. Turn the oven to 250 degrees hot air so it is ready until the dough has risen.

Step 4

Find a pan. In this recipe I use a pan that is half a long pan. So you can also double the recipe using a frying pan. Place baking paper in the bottom of the pan. Remember to take some olive oil on the bottom and sprinkle with a little good salt. This makes the bottom much better when it is done cooking. Take some olive oil on top as well. Finish by sprinkling some good flaxseed salt on top as well.

Step 5

Let it bake in the middle of the oven at 250 degrees hot air for 24-25 minutes. When the bread comes out of the oven, take it out of the pan and let it rest for 15 minutes before cutting it up.

Step 6

Now the everyday focaccia is ready to be enjoyed. This can also be frozen and thawed at a later time. The bread becomes very fluffy and springy with a good crust. Good luck.
