Flygande Jacob - A Swedish classic from the 80's !!
This Swedish classic contains Chicken, bacon, peanuts and banana.
Ingredients
1 large pan
- 400 gram grilled chicken
- 4 pcs bananas
- 300 gram bacon
- 3 dl peanuts
- 3 dl whipping cream
- 3 dl Heinz chili sauce
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- a little finely chopped parsley
This is one of Sweden's most famous dishes and it was extremely popular in the 80's. I think it's fun to bring old dishes to life and give it new life. This dish was published in 1976 and is credited to Ove Jacobsen. Here it is the combination of sweet and sour that gives the special taste. The combination of chicken, bacon, bananas and peanuts may scare some, but the result is a good stew. Here comes the recipe and I have stayed as close to the original as possible.
Step 1
This is a very quick dinner to make because most things are ready. Set the oven at 220 degrees, place baking paper on a baking tray and place the bacon on the tray. Cook until crispy. Cut bananas into suitable pieces and place in a pan together with chicken, fried bacon and peanuts. Save some of the peanuts and bacon to put on top of the pan after it is cooked.
Step 2
Whip the whipped cream until slightly stiff and mix in the Chili Sauce. Add a little cayenne pepper if you want and mix well until the sauce gets a smooth and nice color.
Step 3
Pour the sauce over the chicken pan and mix together.
Step 4
Put in the oven at 220 degrees hot air and bake for about 20 minutes until it gets a golden and nice color. Take out and sprinkle with a little extra peanuts and fried bacon. I think it's good and looks nice with a little finely chopped parsley on top. Serve with rice. Now you can enjoy this Swedish classic.
