Waldorf salad is a very famous accessory and has its background from the Astoria Waldorf hotel and the first version is said to have been made in the late 1800s. I do not know what is true here, but it has been popular for many years and is made in many versions. Originally, waldorf is made with whipped cream, but I think this is not so good and have made a slightly fresher version that is very good. Here is my recipe thoroughly explained with pictures.
Step 1
I start by making the dressing. Mix together all the ingredients for the dressing and stir. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 2
Now cut the rest of the ingredients into fairly small cubes. I think it is important with a little smaller pieces so each spoon you eat contains a little more flavors. This gives a better consistency to the dish in the end.
Step 3
Now the salad should be mixed together. TIP: save some of all the fruits and nuts so you can decorate the salad in the end. Mix the salad in a separate bowl and not the one you are going to serve in. Mix with the dressing and make sure that all pieces are covered by the good dressing.
Step 4
Now pour the Waldorf salad into the bowl you are going to serve it in. Finish by sprinkling a little of all the fruit and nuts on top. This makes the salad look more tempting, becomes more colorful and you can see the different flavors. Now it is ready to serve a delicious and classic accessory.
