This is a quick and good everyday dinner. The fried potatoes mixed with a good white sauce and au gratin with cheese are dangerously good. Mix in well-seasoned beef mince and vegetables until you have made au gratin potato snacks. This recipe is a great way to get rid of leftovers in the fridge and avoid food waste.
Step 1
Start by washing the potatoes and divide into suitably large pieces. An appropriately large piece should not be necessary to divide more when eating. Add a little olive oil, salt and pepper and bake at 200 degrees until tender. This takes from 30-40 minutes depending on the oven you have.
Step 2
Fry the beef mince and vegetables until they are cooked through and add the spices. I think it is good in this dish that the minced meat is quite well seasoned.
Step 3
Make a white sauce with a little less milk so it becomes thicker than regular sauce. Add spices and mustard. Here is an instructional video on how to make white sauce. White sauce - a starting point for many good sauces
Step 4
Mix together the potatoes, meat mixture and white sauce and sprinkle with a little cheese.
Step 5
Gratin in the oven on the grill element until the cheese turns golden and fine. Finish with a little finely chopped herbs. Serve piping hot. It also goes well with a small salad next to it. Good luck.
