Homemade pita bread is very good! Once you understand how easy this is to make, there is no point in buying ready-made from the store.

  • 450 gram wheat flour
  • 3 dl skimmed milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 0,8 bag dry yeast

The advantage is that this goes quickly. The pita bread dough does not need to rise for long. It tastes considerably better than the ones you buy and you know exactly what they contain. Fill the pita breads and serve for dinner or serve them as bread for the meal. Perfect for dipping in a good sauce or for a salad.

Step 1

Start by heating the milk and add the butter.

Let the butter melt and make sure that the milk with the butter keeps a heat of about 37 degrees. Mix together the dry items in a food processor.

Use the kneading hook and mix the dough until it becomes pliable. Mix for about 10 minutes. Add a little extra flour if the dough is a little moist. It should be a pliable, soft and good dough.

Place in a bowl with plastic over and raise for about 20 minutes. Form the dough into a sausage and divide into 7 equal pieces. Form the pieces into buns and let rest for a few minutes. Preheat the oven to 270 degrees and use a pizza stone (can also use one of the plates from the oven). Roll out the dough into a rounding with a diameter of about 15 cm. Bake in the oven for about 2 minutes before turning them and baking for 1-2 minutes on the other side. Watch the video for how to do it.
