Hummus - Most popular dip from the Middle East.

This popular dip from the Middle East is made from chickpeas.

  • 1 can boiled chickpeas
  • 4 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tbsp good olive oil
  • 2 pcs lime (juice only)
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • boiling water

Hummus is a very popular dip and goes well with meat, kebabs or falafel. It is easy to make yourself and tastes much better than the finished ones you buy at the store. When I make ham, I buy canned chickpeas that have been cooked. This allows you to make this great dressing in a few minutes at home.

Step 1

Start by opening the box of chickpeas and pour the peas into a strainer. Rinse them well under water and place in a bowl.

Step 2

In the bowl, now add the Tahini. Tahini is a sauce made from sesame seeds and is a must to get a good Hummus. Add the rest of the ingredients. Boil some water in a saucepan or use the kettle.

Step 3

Run this mixer smoothly with a hand mixer and dilute with the boiling water until you get the desired consistency. I think it should be creamy and airy. Leave in the fridge until serving.

Step 4

Put the hummus in a bowl and pour on some good olive oil. I think it looks nice to dip a fork in a little chili powder and make a little pattern. Sprinkle with a little finely chopped parsley. This dip is perfect for dipping vegetables, meat or falafel. Good luck.
