My best BBQ sauce - a treat for the barbecue and on the burger!
I love a good BBQ sauce. I was actually a little in doubt if I should share this sauce. I have had this recipe for many years and made several small adjustments to get a perfect result.
Ingredients
- 6 dl fresh brown sugar
- 2 dl ketchup
- 2 dl soy sauce
- 2 dl worcestershire sauce
- 2 dl well-kept dark rum
- 2 dl beer
- 2 dl broth from pork or beef
- 4 dl Heinz chilisauce
- 2 pcs whole china garlic
- 4 pcs shallots
- 4 tsp dijon mustard
I have used it countless times on different occasions and everyone loves it! I make several types, but this is my favorite. This works great as a glaze and as a sauce. It is important when using this as a glaze that you grill on indirect heat. There is a lot of sugar in a BBQ sauce and this will be burned if the heat gets too high! Make a large portion and fill a large Norwegian glass. The sauce stays well in the fridge. Making your own BBQ sauce is easy, tastes much better than the ones you buy and you know exactly what it contains.
Step 1
Start by finding a large pan. Pour in a little neutral oil and set on medium heat. Finely chop the shallots and garlic and place in the pan. Let simmer until the onion has become completely soft.
Step 2
Measure out and pour in all the other ingredients in a bowl while the onion is simmering.
Step 3
Stir well and cook for about 30 minutes until the sauce thickens a little. You can choose the consistency of how long you cook it.
Step 4
I reduce (boil down) the sauce by about 1/3 part. Remember that it thickens a little when it gets cool. Strain the sauce and pour on a completely clean Norwegian glass. Now you have delicious BBQ sauce that goes with lots of delicious summer food! Good luck.
