Step 1

I start by seasoning the minced meat. Measure out the different spices that should be in the minced meat. Pour all this and water together with the minced meat in a bowl and knead well. Add yogurt and mix this in as well. Leave to marinate for a minimum of 1 hour. It can be left for many hours and then the flavors will settle even better.

Step 2

Find a large pan and add butter and oil. Add the spices, finely chopped red onion and garlic. Cook for a few more minutes until the onion is completely shiny. Stir regularly so nothing burns. After 5-10 minutes I add the minced meat. Fry the minced meat until it is cooked through. Now add some water and bay leaves and stir. Turn down the heat to medium minus and put on a lid. Now let the dish simmer for 45 minutes.

When there are 10 minutes left to serve, I add frozen peas and mix well. Put the lid on and wait another 10 minutes. Now the dish is getting ready. Finish with a little finely chopped coriander and lemon juice. Taste if the dish needs a little more salt. Now you can serve a delicious Keema Matar! This dish is best enjoyed with naan bread or roti, but you can also use rice. Good luck.
