Mexican corn tortillas ready to be filled with delicious flavors.
Ingredients
- 200 gram Masa Harina (corn flour)
- 1 tsp salt
- 270 gram hot water
- 1 tbsp butter
I love Tacos in all shapes and sizes, but the favorite is with homemade corn tortillas filled with delicious flavors just like it is served in Mexico.
Step 1
Start by weighing the flour and pour into a bowl and add salt. I also weigh the water for more accuracy.

Step 2
I use hot tap water and put the butter in the hot water so it melts. When the butter has melted, I pour this over the flour and mix together to a smooth and fine dough. Put the dough in a ziplock bag and let it rest for 30 minutes on the kitchen workbench.

Step 3
Break off pieces of dough of about 40 grams. Roll into a ball and press completely flat with a tortilla press. I use plastic on both sides as this makes the job easier. If you do not have a press, you can use a large and heavy pan to press them flat.

Step 4
Fry the corn tortillas on a baking sheet or frying pan without any butter or oil. I fry them for a few minutes on each side so they get some baking marks on both sides. About 3 minutes on each side, but this can vary with the heat on the baking pan. The corn tortillas now seem a little crispy and stiff right after frying. Therefore, put them in a large kitchen towel and then they evaporate a lot in the towel. Serve steaming hot or reheated in the oven (inside the towel) just before serving. Good luck.
