This is a classic recipe for Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich. An incredibly popular dish in this area. This is an extremely crispy chicken that is fried and soaked in a spice sauce. The result is incredibly juicy and good chicken that burns and heat. Served on light loaf and plenty of pickled cucumber. Dangerously good.
Step 1
Start by mixing the ingredients for the marinade. Add the chicken and cover with plastic wrap. Leave in the fridge for about 3 hours.
Step 2
Fried chicken is best when it comes straight from the fryer and is crispy and good! Find an iron pan and pour in well with sunflower oil or frying oil. Set the heat to medium +. On my baking tray there is strength 7 (on a scale from 1-9). Heat the oil while you prepare the chicken for frying.
Step 3
In all the recipes and videos I have seen on this recipe, the chicken should be double breaded. This means that it must first be lifted up by the cream mixture, dipped in the flour, back in the cream mixture and finished by dipping in the flour again. Shake well between each time. It's smart to use only one hand on each. That is, 1 hand in the flour and the other with the egg mixture. This way it gets less dirty.
Step 4
Carefully place the chicken in the hot oven and fry for 7 minutes on each side. Transfer to a rack and now you have extremely crispy chicken that is still very juicy inside.
Step 5
You can make this chicken hot sauce and keep it warm until serving. Mix all the ingredients and let melt together. Add a little of the frying oil so you get a suitably thick sauce. Just before serving, dip the whole piece of fried chicken in this sauce. Make sure everything is covered with sauce. The sauce is very strong and it is of course possible to adjust the strength by reducing the amount of cayenne pepper.
Step 6
Place the crispy and strong chicken on a slice of light bread and top with lots of good pickles. Good luck and enjoy this classic Nashville Hot chicken sandwich.
