Delicious crispy onion rings taste fantastic! This is perfect as a snack or as an accompaniment to barbecue, burgers ++ I have spent a lot of time perfecting the batter to make perfect onion rings. The spicy tempura batter, panko and the right temperature give a perfect result. A delicious classic dip to dip the onion rings in.
Step 1
Start by making the tempura batter. Mix together all the dry and pour on a little carbonated water. Stir well until a smooth batter without lumps. Adjust with a little of the water so you get a "waffle batter" consistency.
Step 2
Peel an onion and grate it. Cut the onion into slices of about 1 cm. Separate the layers from each other. When I make onion rings, I only use the biggest things. You can save the rest of the onion for another dish.
Step 3
Find a pan or fryer and pour in frying oil. Heat up to 180 degrees. Now you can enable frying. Find a bowl with flour, the tempura batter and panko / breadcrumbs.
Step 4
Then I make the dressing. Pour all the ingredients into a bowl. Stir well and season with salt and pepper. If you like spicy dip you can take in more "hot sauce" chili sauce.
Step 5
First, dip the onion rings in the wheat flour and shake off. This is so that the tempura batter will attach properly.
Step 6
Then place the onion in the tempura batter so that the whole onion slice is covered with batter. Let it drain for a few seconds before you put it in the panko / bread crumbs. Cover the onion slice and place straight in the fryer.
Step 7
Fry for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. I turn them over after about half the time for completely even color and frying. Place on a rack and sprinkle with a little salt when they are piping hot.
Now just stack them on a large platter with the dip. These delicious and crispy onion slices are guaranteed to be popular! Good luck.
